Gujurat Lovebirds

Part of my exploration into painting birds has led me towards textiles…a rich source of imagery such as this inspired by a beautiful late 17th century Indian embroidered wall hanging. The original can be found in the V&A in London and this detail shows exotic birds stylised in such a way to make me feel their hearts are exposed and vulnerable.
