Gujurat Lovebirds

A painting in gouache and pencil on paper……beloved things and interesting items that suggest bigger worlds of love, friendship, remembrances and things hoped for.

Part of my exploration into painting birds has led me towards textiles…a rich source of imagery such as this inspired by a beautiful late 17th century Indian embroidered wall hanging. The original can be found in the V&A in London and this detail shows exotic birds stylised in such a way to make me feel their hearts are exposed and vulnerable.
