'Embodied Dreams'
Stained Glass
Painted, stained and enamelled glass.
Exhibited in 2024/25 as part of the British Society of Master Glass Painters ‘Inspired by Morris’ Exhibition. PLEASE NOTE: This panel will be on exhibition until June 2025
One of the highlights for me in 2024 was to spend time thinking about William Morris in order to make a piece for the British Society of Master Glass Painters' Showcase exhibition, 'Inspired by Morris' , sponsored by Sanderson.
In the end I made four panels mainly because I was over-excited and entered three of them (the maximum! ) for the online exhibition to sit alongside an astounding 100+ others by over 80 glass artists....what a treat.
The two female figures symbolise the combination of thought and action needed for creativity, and the promise of joy to be found when 'faith becomes flesh'.In a jewel-like field of Morris-inspired landscape populated with lush flora and fruit-laden trees, personifications of 'Work' and 'Dreams' hold a banner with Morris’ words emblazoned;
'My work is the embodiment of dreams in one form or another',
