Cumbria, UK

VID_38571123_054733_156-thumbnail.jpg

This window is in a private house and was commissioned to celebrate life and family. It uses stylized flower motifs in all stages of growth from seedling to fully flowering to suggest the cycle of life and symbolizes the number of children, partners, and grandchildren in this particular family through the number of flowers so that all member of the family can see themselves as part of the overall design.

The window acts as a physical memorial for members of the family that are no longer here. Simple hand outlines from family members have been used to create the background texture and colour graduation via layered sandblasting on blue glass. Handmade glass, sand-blasting, painting, staining and enamelling have been used throughout to create a jewelled garden.

“I have a window, the most beautiful window imaginable. Designed and made by the amazing Rachel Phillips. Rachel is so talented, kind and thoughtful. She works with you to give you exactly what you want and then goes a step further.”
