The Warm Glass Prize

Following some experimentation with introducing frit work to my autonomous glasspainting, I’ve entered a piece into the 2014 warm Glass Prize into the Other Glass Category  which you can see here on the Warm Glass Website….RACHEL PHILLIPS : The Glass Prize.  The piece explores using a low relief surface and is linked to my interest in carving, sculpture and surface deterioration. It’s a long way from my more detailed glass painting but just as exciting and satisfying and hopefully the start of a body of work,- hence putting it out there…..!

It’s encouraging to see so many people using glass  in so many ways and for there to be opportunities to show and see it thanks to Warm Glass in this instance- do go and have a look around to see some great work. Check out  Linda Norris’ entries in the Bullseye and Schools categories.

I am a stained glass artist living and working in the beautiful Preseli hills of West Wales. I've chosen glass as my creative medium for its unparallelled intensity of light and colour. I specialise in traditional glass painting and work mainly to commission in the creation of new work for churches, private and public buildings in the form of windows or some other architectural application. I also make smaller scale bespoke glass pieces using traditional stained glass techniques such as glass painting, staining and etching. Contact me via email at
